Horry County Fire Rescue | Socastee Fire Station 1
Back to Practice AreaHorry County, South Carolina undertook a comprehensive renovation and expansion of the Socastee Fire Station No. 1 to enhance operations and meet the growing needs of the community. The project included the design and construction of a new 4,233-square-foot addition and the renovation of approximately 2,191 square feet within the existing 5,993-square-foot station, resulting in a more efficient and modern facility. The work extended beyond the building itself to encompass improvements across the 1.37-acre site, providing upgraded parking, circulation, and utility infrastructure to support the station’s daily operations. Because the facility is classified as a Level IV essential facility under Chapter 16 of the South Carolina Building Code, the design incorporated enhanced structural systems, hurricane-resistant details, and life-safety features to withstand the region’s 162-mph wind zone requirements. The expanded station delivers upgraded apparatus bays, improved living quarters, and updated administrative areas—ensuring that the fire department can respond quickly and effectively to emergencies while providing a safe, resilient, and future-ready home base for first responders.
