J. Michael Riemann Recognized with Delaware’s Highest Engineering Honor & HBADE Distinguished Service Award

Becker Morgan Group is proud to announce that J. Michael Riemann, PE, Principal, Civil Engineer has been named the 2026 Delaware Engineer of the Year by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Delaware Chapter. This prestigious statewide honor recognizes engineers who demonstrate outstanding technical achievement, leadership, and professional integrity.

In addition to receiving the state’s highest engineering distinction, Riemann was also honored with the 2025 Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBADE) Distinguished Service Award, which has been officially renamed the Michael Riemann Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his long‑standing impact on the homebuilding and development industries throughout Delaware.

Riemann’s 24‑year career at Becker Morgan Group exemplifies technical excellence, collaborative leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing Delaware’s engineering and economic landscape. Since joining the firm as an intern in 1997, he has risen to the position of Principal and now leads our civil engineering department, guiding projects across Delaware, Maryland, and North Carolina.

A respected voice in regulatory and policy discussions, Riemann has played a key role in shaping civil site design standards, development processes, and infrastructure planning throughout the region. He was also a founding force behind the Coalition for a Sound Economy (CASE), a statewide alliance focused on job creation and economic development.

Riemann has held numerous leadership roles in organizations including ACEC Delaware, the Downtown Dover Partnership, and statewide regulatory committees. As the current President of the Home Builders Association of Delaware (2023–2026), he has helped modernize land‑use policy, advocate for responsible development, create partnerships with stakeholders, and support Delaware’s growing housing needs.
