Becker Morgan Group’s Principals Reflect on 2020

We have all encountered the challenges of the last year. As we look ahead to 2021, Becker Morgan Group’s principals reflect on 2020’s most impactful takeaways.

What are you most proud of in 2020?

J. Michael Riemann, P.E. “I am most proud of the commitment of our staff to continue to provide a high standard of service to our clients despite the challenges faced this year.”

 W. Ronald Morgan, AIA “I am humbled by our staff’s ability to not only survive but to have helped the firm thrive in the face of this year’s adversity.”

What was the largest hurdle faced in 2020?

Brad A. Hastings, AIA, LEED AP “I think the biggest challenge was managing all the unknowns and uncertainties. Things were changing and evolving so rapidly that we were constantly pivoting to protect the wellbeing of our staff, while ensuring we could continue to successfully execute projects for our clients.”

What is the largest positive take away from 2020?

J. Michael Riemann, P.E “Our perseverance! Despite hurdles, we adjusted, and we excelled!”

 W. Ronald Morgan, AIA “We are grateful for our clients’ continued trust through the uncertainty. This year especially, we recognize our appreciation for our longstanding clients and truly value their partnerships.”

Has 2020 changed the way you do business?

Ernest W. Olds, AIA “This year has allowed our firm to leverage existing technologies more efficiently. I believe the entire industry will continue to shift towards a more technology-centric environment.”

Gregory V. Moore, P.E. “The A/E industry, like so many, has transitioned to virtual meetings. Although I look forward to the return of more personal interactions, I anticipate virtual meetings becoming more regular in the future.”

What do you predict for the future of the A/E industry?

Ernest W. Olds, AIA “The unprecedented nature of the pandemic has taught all of us the importance of healthy indoor environments. We have begun to adjust our design approach across all building types to provide better air-quality, social spacing of activity centers, and touchless controls. Clients and users recognize the immediate benefits of this new approach.”

Through the adversity of 2020, we have come to know that we are truly stronger together. During this Thanksgiving Season, we wish you good health and bountiful blessings.
