Believe In Tomorrow | Cottage by the Sea
Back to Practice AreaThis oceanside respite housing project will prioritize US military families with critically ill children, as well as children with short life expectancies. Within walking distance to the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, this 2,900 sf duplex is specifically designed to accommodate larger families. Each unit includes an open living and kitchen space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two private balconies. Special attention was given to the interior and exterior finishes on this project, creating a modern and coastal aesthetic that would serve as a beacon of hope and comfort to the children and families who stay there.
A unique feature of the property is the sunrise and sunset rooftop deck. Believe in Tomorrow’s CEO, Brian Morrison, comments on the space “One of the most exciting aspects of the design is the rooftop deck area, which will have views of both the ocean and the bay, and will accommodate up to 40 people.” The deck will have an outdoor kitchen, game area, fireplace, and seating and entertainment options. The majority of the deck is covered by a pergola, equipped with an infrared heating system, misters, and streamlined lighting. This feature ensures the deck can be utilized in the spring, summer, and fall. The organization plans to use the space for group gatherings of all the Believe in Tomorrow families staying in the resort town.
