DE Turf Sports Complex
Back to Practice AreaIn association with the Delaware Economic Development Office, Kent County, and The Greater Kent Committee, Becker Morgan Group provided comprehensive design and construction phase services for a regional sports complex. The project design required substantial coordination with DelDOT’s South Frederica Grade Separated Interchange project, which provides the Sports Complex access from DE Route 1.
The facility is situated on approximately 85 leased acres of a 600-acre Kent County owned parcel. The facility features 12 artificial turf fields, five of which are lighted, and includes a championship stadium field with permanent seating for 750 spectators. The facility was designed to meet the needs of the local sports community but also functions as a host to regional and national youth tournaments for multiple field sports including soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and rugby. Several small restroom and concession buildings are placed throughout the property. Additionally, the site development includes a main stadium building to house meeting rooms, DE Turf staff offices, retail merchandise, restrooms, and storage. There is also a maintenance building which includes an office, meeting room, equipment storage, material bins, fenced service yard, and fuel storage. This building houses a full-service kitchen for the on-site concessionaire to service the concession buildings located throughout the property.
