Kent County Administrative Services Complex

Back to Practice Area

Kent County’s goal was to consolidate county departments to provide more efficient services and better access to the community. The first task for the design team was to evaluate four sites for the new complex, an effort that culminated with the selection of an 11.8 acre site in the City of Dover. This project met “Livable Delaware” initiatives by converting the brownfields site into a community facility. The 98,292 sf facility houses offices for County departments, such as Planning Services, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Inspections, Tax Assessment, and the County Administrator; Levy Court spaces include the Levy Court Chamber, Caucus Room and Commissioner’s offices, conference and training facility; and employee amenities include a lunchroom and fitness center. Project includes a small community park with a paved pedestrian walking path, providing an outdoor active area for employees and residents.
