Kent County Community Center & Pool
Back to Practice AreaAdjacent to the rural County’s only high school and primary recreation field complex at Worton Park, this project consisted of the main recreation center, pool and support buildings, two athletic fields, and upgrades to the existing baseball and softball fields situated on 28.5 acres. The 21,387 sf community recreational facility includes a gym, multi-purpose room, meeting room, support spaces, catering kitchen, and offices of Kent County Parks and Recreation. The pool was designed with several unique zones and depths to allow for diverse, concurrent pool activities. The goal was to provide a family-friendly pool experience for all ages and ability levels. Included are a wading pool with beach entry, a main pool with 25-meter lanes, a diving well, and kids play area. This facility is the largest of three public pools in the county. Planning included working with more than a dozen public and private agencies, civic groups, and clubs to solicit their needs and incorporate their programs.
