Nestled between natural ponds and pristine marshland, this home overlooks Atlantic coastal bays and the skyline of Ocean City, Maryland. The client’s desire to relocate from the bustling streets of New York City was realized in this serene natural setting, creating a relaxed lifestyle to raise their young family. Critical area buffers and regulations, homeowner’s association criteria, and a tight building envelope accessed via a vehicular causeway over ponds were some of the design challenges.

This traditional shingle style home is reminiscent of seaside cottages and manor houses of the Hamptons. Strategic placement of windows and rooms promotes enjoyment of water views. The bayfront façade features a three-story octagonal tower designed as an observatory space to capture 360 degree views of the site’s unique diversity, from city skyline to wildlife preserve. A vernacular style, shingled bell tower, and curved wrap around porches add additional architectural charm.
