Lumberton Police Department originally intended to renovate their existing 11,000 sf facility, a former bakery. Our team performed a comprehensive operational, structural, and space needs analysis to test schematic planning against the City’s budget, and determined demolition and new construction was more cost effective than renovation. The current building was demolished and replaced with a new 18,000 sf building to accommodate the expanding needs of the Police Department. Careful planning helped maximize the functional programmatic spaces while meeting tight budget constraints. Features include ballistic rated exterior windows, a secure internal public lobby, patrol salley port with hardened holding/processing, secure evidence processing, and comprehensive security (audio/visual, hardware).
