Macky & Pam Stansell House of Coastal Hospice at the Ocean
Back to Practice AreaPreviously intended for use as a community clubhouse, the facility was repurposed into the Lower Shore’s first hospice residence and outreach center. The 26,850 sf comprehensive support facility offers 12 private patient suites designed to look and feel like home while being equipped for specialized medical treatment. Two exam rooms and a physician’s office serve the residents and non-residents of Coastal Hospice. Lower level office and community space provides a place for training and support group meetings, and also serves as the central hub for the care and coordination team serving Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. The entire site was designed to bring peace to individuals and families during difficult circumstances. Each resident room offers space for family members and features a view of the water or gardens. Families are invited to utilize amenities during their stay, including a family kitchen, dining area, sunroom, outdoor deck, meditation room, and resource library. Tom Mullinax, AIA, of Hospice Design Resource served as the Healthcare Consultant for this project.
