Modern Seaside Residence

Back to Practice Area

Villa Aegean was a humble beach house built by the owner’s father in 1970. While the owner held onto memories of their beloved beach home, they knew it was time to write the property’s next chapter. A love for the Greek Isles, need for more space, and an affinity for modern design gave birth to the reimagined coastal retreat. As the new home took form, the family looked for ways to celebrate the fond memories at Villa Aegean. The solution? An aerial plan representing the letter “A”, a subtle connection to  Villa Aegean and the family’s surname.

The narrow lot was a concern at the onset of design. However, a unique interior floor plan visually widened the home and created impressive ocean viewpoints from nearly every room. Seamlessly connected, the indoor/outdoor living space invites guests to enjoy the dune resting location from the kitchen, living room, deck, or infinity pool.

Constructed in post-tensioned concrete, the structure is resilient to mother nature’s fury.  Cool exterior materials of stucco, glazed blue tiles, and stainless steel cables, blended with the warmth of stacked sea shell stone and wood accents, complement the colors & textures of the landscape while mirroring the tranquility of the iconic Greek palette.
