Seaglass House

Shades of Green was the theme for this charming new retirement home on Delaware’s coast. Both inside and out, the owner desired to be enveloped in her favorite serene shades of green, which anchored the house in the landscape while fitting in with the beach proximity of its coastal habitat without being too predictably “beachy.”

Tasteful and timeless, relaxing interiors blend seamlessly with this palette housed in coastal architecture that blends traditional charm with fresh modern details and appointments.  The home’s design and orientation are situated on the lot to capture distant bay views from the master suite and its balcony, located in the focal front elevation’s tower element, as well as to function with the opposite rear facades, dock, and canal.  Maximizing views from multiple vantage points on a tight lot, in close proximity to other homes, drove many planning decisions. Outdoor living was a priority, realized in the expansive rear network of terraces, pool, cabana with fireplace, outdoor kitchen, and outdoor shower, all conveniently connected to the main house via columned colonnade.
