Talbot Humane Society

Located on a 2.09 acre parcel on Ocean Gateway (Rt. 50) in Easton Maryland, the Talbot Humane provides services in support of animal welfare throughout Talbot County. In order to better serve its constituency, design and planning is underway to replace their dated facilities with a new Animal Welfare Center that will enhance animal care services, community outreach, and educational opportunities. The project includes a new 13,660 sf facility, a small livestock barn, and parking and site improvements on the existing site, requiring coordination and phasing of the work to minimize the impact to ongoing services. Becker Morgan Group is working with Shelter Architecture Unleashed, a shelter design specialist, and Lane engineering to design the facility.

The new center will provide administrative offices, animal sheltering and care areas, a veterinary treatment suite, storage space, and a flexible multi-purpose room for education programs, meetings, and community events. Designed as a distinctive one-story building with the capacity for a future Medical Suite addition, the facility will support Talbot Humane Society’s long-term growth with a sustainability focus. Once finished, the Center will provide a modern, welcoming, and adaptable home for Humane Society’s mission of promoting animal welfare, compassionate care, and community engagement.
