Willow Creek Farm
Back to Practice AreaSituated on a rural, coastal farmette lot close to charming historic Lewes, Delaware, this New “Old House” was a collaboration with the homeowner, who was a Relator / Designer, and the architect.
The owner’s vision was to create a cedar shingle-sided farmstead family residence and guest cottage on their secluded pond fronting plot. The farmhouse vernacular was paramount and had to include such details as cedar shingles, covered porches, French casement windows, gothic muntined accent windows, and reclaimed materials, all exuding an elegantly organized but understated simple design order. A new purposefully detached barn mimics the architecture and materials of the home and speaks to the property’s agrarian origins.
Finely crafted interiors were procured with reclaimed hardwood, timber beams, columns, antique lighting & plumbing fixtures. Casework and millwork details throughout were created resulting from extensive homeowner research efforts. The juxtaposition of rustic and refined emanates throughout the residence.
The relatively small footprint with 3 bedroom suites lives large but yields a cozy intimate charm that is truly an experience in authentic eclecticism.
