South Dover Elementary School

Back to Practice Area

South Dover Elementary School was a direct result of the Master Plan and Feasibility Study completed by Becker Morgan Group. The elementary grades were realigned to a K-4 configuration, enlarging the school’s enrollment from 425 to 600. This was the first school in the master plan execution. The new 66,069 sf school was co-located on the site of the existing South Dover Elementary School, requiring extensive coordination to maintain the operation and safety of the existing school while construction occurred on the new school. Once construction was completed, the original facility was demolished and site work was completed. The building was sited to separate bus and vehicular traffic with separate drop-off/entry areas. The school utilizes energy conservation techniques, including natural lighting with the building on an east-west axis, a combination of automatic and manual energy controls, natural ventilation, and zoned light switching.
