Delaware Technical Community College | Automotive Center of Excellence
Back to Practice AreaThis facility houses the first diesel mechanic training program in the region and doubles the number of automotive technicians trained at DTCC’s Georgetown Campus each year from 20 to 40. The center’s automotive and diesel technology programs provide the instruction, course of study, and equipment necessary for training in automatic transmissions and transaxles, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, heating and air conditioning, and manual drive train and axles. Adjacent to the shop area are innovative dividable classrooms featuring AV and digital equipment to facilitate course work, while providing direct access to the shop floor. The building, landscaping, and associated site work were carefully planned to transform the site from a parking lot into an integral part of the DTCC Georgetown Campus. This project was awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies of Delaware Engineering Excellence Award. Becker Morgan Group provided Architecture, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Landscape Architecture services for this state-of-the-art center.
